Rodney (“Red”) L. Shuart, age 91, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 with his family by his side. Rodney was born in Suffern, NY and had been a resident of Hawthorne for 54 years before moving to Oakland about one year ago. He was an active member of Living Word Reformed Church, North Haledon. Rodney is also a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Red was a driver for Midland Auto Parts, Midland Park. Rodney is survived by his three children; Kenneth Shuart of Oakland, Glen Shuart and his wife, Diane of Hawthorne and Barbara Miller and her husband Bret of Waterford, NY and four Grandchildren; Timothy and Caroline Shuart and Eric and Kristine Miller. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth E. (nee DeKoning) in 2010, a brother Rev. Esler Shuart and a sister Marilyn Heater. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10–11:30 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, 11:30 am at the funeral home with the interment following at Laurel Grove Memorial Cemetery, Totowa, NJ.
